Our app captures data about your lifts from both a color and depth camera, so we require devices that support that capability.

How should I angle my device to track my lifts?

Accepted Answer

Giving the app a good view of the scene is essential for it to track you well.

| Tip, use the tracking quality indicator during a lift to see how well the app is seeing you. Green is good and Red is bad!

Common issues and solutions

The device is moving around

Shaky Camera

| Securely mount the device to a stable spot on a rack or wall. Do not hold the device while the app is recording. We have some suggested camera mounts here.

The camera is looking directly into the sun

It's Always Sunny in the Weight Room

| Move the device to another location where the sun is not directly behind the person lifting.

The front-facing camera is covered by the mount or case

| Most devices have their camera in the top middle portion of the screen, so make sure your mount does not cover that part.

Keep The Notch Area Clear

What kind of mount should I use?

Accepted Answer

Your phone needs to be securely attached to the rack, a wall, or on a tripod. If the camera moves around during a lift you will get inaccurate velocities or rep counting. Using a magnetic mount phone holder works great as you can move it around for different lifts.

||| Warning: Flexible phone mounts tend to swing around a lot when attached to a rack. We recommend not using a flexible mount attached to a rack and using a magnetic one instead.

There are a variety of iPad tripods that will work well. You will need a tripod mount that holds your iPad in a Portrait orientation and not a Landscape orientation.

Prepare a comma separated value (.csv) file with the following format:

EliteForm Lift Tracker Keys for Success

Here are a few keys for success to help you use the EliteForm Lift Tracker successfully

** Place your device in a location where the front-facing camera has a clear, unobstructed view of where you will be lifting. You can click the camera button to the left of the START button to open the camera and verify the view. **

Your device cannot be moving while you are lifting. It needs to be securely placed on a floor or wall, on a tripod, or attached to the rack using a magnetic mount and cannot be held by another person.
** After you have securely placed your device, click the START button. We suggest a few test reps with just the bar or a low weight to verify the app will track for you. As you start to lift, the app will automatically track your velocity and power and display the results to you. **
During a lift the icon to the right of the STOP button tells you if the app has a clear view of your hands and the bar. The app will only track if the icon is green.

What lifts are able to be tracked?

Currently, the EliteForm Lift Tracker will track the following lifts:

Hang Clean
Squat
Bench Press
Trap Bar Deadlift
Barbell Deadlift

Dumbbells and Kettlebells cannot be used with the EliteForm Lift Tracker App.
